Oscar Muñoz graduated from Escuela de Bellas Artes in 1971 and is now known as one of the most significant visual artists in Colombia. Taken as a whole, his work reflects a prolific investigation of post-modern methods of representation, including non-conventional photographic and mechanical printing techniques, audio-visual media and installations. Despite the range of approaches, Muñoz maintains a focus on key themes, using transient mediums – such as human breath, water, dust and methacrylate to explore memory loss, and the precarious nature of human life.
