Mexikanisches Monument

In 2017, The Nicole Brachetti Peretti Collection loaned Markus Lupertz’s Mexikanisches Monument (1964) to one of the most visited modern art museums in the USA, the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Gallery in Washington, DC.  The painterly and political work of Neo-Expressionist art was displayed as part of the exhibition, Markus Lupertz: Threads of History, curated by Evelyne Hankins with assistance from Betsy Johnson. Featuring over thirty pioneering works from the early years of his career, the exhibition sought to offer ‘a striking exploration of one artist’s response to a uniquely charged cultural moment.’
