Lives in Surrey and works across the UK
Kendra Haste is a British wildlife sculptor who produces uncanny, lifesized works of nature’s most formidable giants with galvanised chicken wire mesh. Haste is best known for her Royal Beasts (2010), a public commission by Historic Royal Palaces, releasing wild animal sculptures into the Tower of London to celebrate the history of the Royal Menagerie.
Haste’s American Buffalo Head (2018) is a larger-than-life representation of the near-threatened American Buffalo, constructed of steel armature and painted galvanised wire. The intensity of its stare is a feature of many of the sculptures across Haste’s portfolio, the buffalo’s hollowed eyes adding a lifelike depth to the visage that is somehow simultaneously fierce and tame.
